Apple Pie

20. October 2019Laura Tassatti

I’m still enjoying autumn and so here is another recipe with apples. This time an apple pie from my dear godmother. When I was looking for inspiration how to decorate the apple pie, I was impressed by all the gorgeous pies you can find on the internet. They are real works of art. My apple pie can’t keep up yet, but I tried to at least create an autumnal look with a few cut-out leaves. Since it was my first attempt I am actually quite satisfied and the most important thing is that the cake tastes good and it definitely did.

Today I’ll already bake the next cake. The recipe will be online next week. Afterwards I want to enjoy the nice weather and have a nice autumn walk. Slowly the leaves are getting really nice colors.

Apple Pie

  • Serves: one pie pan (Ø 28cm)

Pie Crust

  • 450 g flour
  • 250 g butter
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • zest of half a lemon

apple filling

  • 650 g apples, peeled and sliced
  • juice of half a lemon
  • zest of half a lemon
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 EL vanilla sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1)

Prepare a shortcrust pastry quickly: Add the butter to the flour in pieces, then add all the other ingredients and knead into a dough. Cool for about 30 minutes.

  • 2)

During this time peel and slice the apples and pour over the lemon juice. Add sugar, vanilla sugar and cinnamon and mix.

  • 3)

Roll out a little less than half of the dough in a circle (preferably on baking paper) and put it into the greased and floured pan. Then fill with the apples.

  • 4)

Roll out another circle from the remaining dough (leave some for decoration if you want) on a baking paper and place it on the filling, peel off the baking paper and decorate as desired. Bake at 190 degrees for about 35 minutes.
